About the Opportunity

Inland Rail launches its Graduate intake for a July 22 Intake.
  
You will join us on Monday 4th July 2022.
  
We have opportunities for 4 graduates to join the Environment & Sustainability team kick-starting their careers working on Australia’s largest and most technically complex freight rail infrastructure program.
  
You will participate in a structured two-year program, which includes at least 3 rotations within the Environmental & Sustainability team. As part of the broader Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team, you will gain exposure to several environmental disciplines in our state-of-the-art Brisbane office as well as on-site where possible.

You will need to be able to go to the site regularly or for long periods of time.
  
On completion, you will have the opportunity to work in roles across Inland Rail until it is scheduled for operation from 2027.

Main Responsibilities

You will work under the guidance and leadership of experienced team members providing environment support to successfully execute the relevant projects in line with the HSE targets.

  • Your development program will see you, and will not be limited to:
  • Assist in internal audit preparation, administration, reporting and closeout of audit findings;
  • Work collaboratively with our construction contractors, and the IR Project Management Team to develop and maintain a strong HSE culture, with open communication and reporting of issues;
  • Assist with reporting on HSE performance in relevant reports and forums;
  • Assist with identifying HSE and quality trends working with the construction contractor to manage in a timely manner;
  • Assist with the preparation, review, and delivery of fit for purpose environmental approvals;
  • Assist in the review of technical reports and associated documents to support environmental approval processes;
  • Provide support to the Inland Rail Sustainability team to assist with program and project deliverables and activities, including but not limited to monthly reporting, organising meetings, and drafting minutes; 
  • Investigate the feasibility of sustainability initiatives; and, 
  • Contribute as a team member and support the facilitation and integration of sustainability data in the key systems and processes.

About You

We are seeking enthusiastic graduates who are invested in and committed to their personal and professional development. To be eligible for consideration, you should have completed a Bachelor's in relevant fields such as environmental management, science, or engineering in the last two years, as well as:

  • Desire to learn and gain experience in the delivery of environment and sustainability outcomes for major industry/infrastructure projects in both brownfield and greenfield settings;
  • Demonstrable ability to work in an organised, well-ordered, and autonomous manner;
  • Demonstrable written and oral communication and presentation skills;
  • Ability to learn about emerging trends, key benchmarks and statutory and regulatory requirements to inform best practice and value management outcomes for environment and sustainability;
  • Strong literacy with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and customised software packages;
  • Sound research, analysis and investigation skills, coupled with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Able to deliver effective investigation outcomes and reports within specified timeframes; and,
  • A Class C Unrestricted Driver’s License.
