Your role

ABC Regional & Local has a 12-month opportunity available for a motivated individual to join the team.  The successful applicant will be passionate about storytelling and content creation and gain valuable experience in creating broadcast, digital, social media, and mobile content for ABC.  

This role will include:

  • Suggesting, researching, and creating compelling local radio, video, and digital content
  • Pre-recording interviews, capturing and editing photos; shooting and producing videos, and uploading digital and social media content
  • Developing reporting skills
  • Developing producing skills
  • Developing production skills with all studio and field equipment which extends to ensuring content is digitally accessible for people with disability

Salary & benefits

In this role, you may earn an average of A$53,000 to A$67,000 Plus 15.4% Nominated Super.

About you

We are looking for storytellers, people who want to find and tell stories to reflect the diverse Australian population to the biggest audiences possible. You need to be enthusiastic and self-motivated candidates who will bring a perspective from your backyard.

You’ll be supported in this program by mentors and staff, both on location and nationally, who’ll train you in many functions of capital city stations and facilitate your success in these roles.

You must be able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures
  • Ability to communicate with and engage with diverse communities and understand issues that affect the local audience
  • An interest in broadcast, digital and social media technology with experience publishing on social media alongside using it as a research tool
  • Editorial skills with the ability to source and analyse information
  • A creative approach to content construction and delivery
  • Your willingness to collaborate and work well in a team.
