Your role

ABC MADE is a team of passionate creatives crafting promotions and branding for content across all of ABC’s broadcast platforms. They combine a comprehensive range of creative skills to service all of ABC’s divisions, including television, radio, news, international, commercial and digital networks.

ABC MADE sits within the Audiences division; a group of marketing, brand, creative, audience experience, UX and audience insights specialists with audiences at the heart of all they do. They're responsible for leading the ABC’s brand and audience strategies, acquiring and engaging audiences both within our broadcast and digital ecosystems and working collaboratively with partner divisions to show an integrated approach to audience insights, branding, acquisition and retention strategies, and communication.

ABC MADE is looking for ambitious young creatives to fan the flames of their creative career with the second round of the ABC MADE Upstart internship program. A six-week paid mentorship opportunity that will give successful candidates a taste of producing industry leading creative trailers and assets for ABC platforms across TV, radio and digital.

Training & development

Many people come to ABC with qualifications in journalism, radio, online, or a relevant course suited to a corporate area. However, there are courses available to keep you up to date with skills or systems unique to the ABC or to keep your industry knowledge relevant.

Their training courses include:

  • Digital skills development;
  • Production skills;
  • Camera skills;
  • Editing skills and associated technology;
  • Desktop Editing for Journalists;
  • Writing for Radio/ Writing for News/ Writing for Television;
  • ABC Editorial Policies;
  • Legal workshops;
  • Core systems including; SAP HR, Finance, Records management, Rights Management, training in IT systems, iNews, and NETIA;
  • A range of OH&S training includes; fatigue management, personal risk assessment, induction, manual handling, first aid, and radiological awareness training.

About you

First and foremost you have a passion for learning, and for kickstarting your creative career in the broadcast media industry with the ABC.

Secondly, you will be in the middle of or have recently completed a relevant degree in media studies. Either at university, TAFE or an associated learning institution, such as AFTRS.

Lastly, you will have basic knowledge and hands-on skills using either video or audio editing software, such as Adobe Premiere or AVID Pro Tools. Or, you have an eye for design and a basic understanding of design software, such as Adobe Photoshop, In Design or After Effects.
