Do you have a passion for journalism and storytelling?
As a Cadet Journalist you will assist with the reporting and producing of news content for online, social, video and audio platforms. You will be trained and mentored by some of Australia’s top journalists to ensure the best support and development for your future and will be trained in a busy major metropolitan newsroom to equip you with the skills and experience you'll need to work in one of the regional bureaus once you have successfully completed your Cadetship.
During their cadet training year, the successful candidates will be working as part of the ABC News division in a Metro based newsroom. Our staff work in news and current affairs across radio, television, and digital media.

You will be a self-starter, a team player, agile, flexible and willing to live and work in regional Australia. You will be enthusiastic about news, current affairs and all things digital, and be keen to connect with communities that are currently under represented at the ABC

The starting salary is approximately AUD 68,000 per year and includes an option for generous ABC superannuation of 15.4% on top of the base rate.

ABC offers robust training and development opportunities in a supportive and inclusive environment. For those that successfully complete the one-year training program, will be offered a position as a journalist in a regional bureau in the ABC. The offer may require the cadet to relocate. The opportunity will offer the cadet with a sense of adventure to bring attention to new, exciting, and local stories in our regions.
