I am very satisfied with career progression. Being a part of APS means there is a lot of opportunities in regards to career progression as well as the privilege to work across different departments.

Next level up is APS6 - you can do Expressions of interest to get acting positions it takes a lot of motivation and willpower, but it's better than negotiating your pay at a private firm

If you're good at your job and open to opportunities, you can progress quite quickly. From a grad, most people are in a senior advisory role within 12 months. From there it's only one step into executive positions.

Short-term: promotion is accessible and easy to reach if you work hard Long-term: Advancement to director/manager level can be difficult - some areas won't provide advancement opportunities to anybody who hasn't worked in the APS 10+ years

I only just finished my graduate program in December, so I am still in the process of working out my career progression. However, I think that opportunities pop up to progress one's career, and it seems possible from the people around me.
