GHD is continuing our commitment in the engagement and development of young talent throughout our business and, as such, we have a role for a final year Civil Engineering student to join our 2021 Graduate Program in our Water Dams team.

The water dams team works with a variety of primarily local councils and government owned corporations to assist dam owners meet both regulatory requirements and community water security needs. The type of work undertaken by the dams team is varied, and includes dam upgrade designs, construction supervision and assisting dam owners meet regulatory requirements (i.e. dam safety inspections and dam safety documentation). The GHD Brisbane dams team has a number of technical specialty areas including structural, hydraulics, geotech/embankments and risk assessments. Due to the varied number of technical disciplines, many projects are heavily collaborative within a team that values the differing strengths brought to the table by individuals in the team. The dams team has a dynamic group of young professionals, mentored by industry recognised leaders who are invested in succession planning and maintaining the tight knit bond of the team.

Areas you will be exposed to:

  • Undertake dam safety inspections to Regulatory requirements under the supervision of senior colleagues.
  • Train as a project manager and manage projects up to $200,000, including client relationship management.
  • Work on dam upgrade projects with opportunity to try a variety of technical disciplines including hydraulics, structural, risk assessment and geotech/embankments
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other teams including geotechnical team, surface water team, hydrogeology team and tailings dams team.
  • Upskilling on the job via inclusion of junior staff in technical review workshops and laboratory visits
  • Be part of a team that has a large number of young professionals and industry recognised technical leaders
