Indigenous Connect

Budyeri Kamaru - Join us on Tuesday 12th September from 5.00pm - 7.30pm AEST at our HQ offices on Gadigal land for our connect event, hosted by Google.

This year's theme is Indigenous Mentorship: Honouring the Past, Inspiring the Future.

Part 1: Lighting Talks & Q&A

The event will be hosted by Davina Shearer, Program Manager Inclusion & Equity APAC at Google, and feature lightning talks from Candice Bowditch, Security Engineer at Google, Danny Allende, Senior Manager for Indigenous Strategy at NRL, and Joe Hedger, Partner at Deloitte. There will be an opportunity for Q&A at the end of the talks.

Our goals are to showcase career stories from Indigenous leaders and newcomers and a create safe space for Indigenous professionals to simply connect. This year's theme is mentorship. We'll explore the importance of mentorship and support in one's career journey, including role models, goals, visualising success, and taking action.

Part 2: Career Booths

The talks will be followed by networking opportunities to connect through our Career Booths, delicious food, beverages and photo booth! The Career Booths are an excellent opportunity to further the discussion on mentorship and gain valuable career advice.

The Career Booths will divided into 3 sections: 

• Meet our Googlers/Panelists - Feel free to ask more questions on their talks.
• Meet our Recruiters - Ever wanted to ask about how recruiting works at Google or general resume and interview tips? Our Recruiters will be available to let you know that any role is possible!
• Meet our Googlers from GAIN - Speak with some of our Googlers in the Google Aboriginal and Indigenous Network (GAIN).
