This role is a great opportunity to experience working in a chamber set with some of Queensland’s leading King’s Counsel and junior barristers.
We are looking for students who have a keen eye for detail, work hard independently, have excellent communication skills, and are friendly and professional.


The Role
We will be employing 3-4 law students as Research Clerks/Administrative Assistants to work on a casual roster. We are particularly looking for students in their 2nd to 4th year, who have 2-3 years remaining in their degrees.


There is a minimum time commitment of at least 1 day a week, with a preference for those who can work up to 2-3 days, including exam blocks. The remuneration will be $35 per hour plus superannuation.
As a Research Clerk/Administrative Assistant, you will be providing direct administrative support to barristers and personal assistants. These administrative tasks will include, inter alia:
•Preparing barristers’ briefs, indexes for lists of documents, folders of documents, and other quasi paralegal duties;
•Photocopying, printing, filing and collating of documents;
•Assisting in day to day tasks in chambers;
•Answering phones, covering reception, and responding to correspondence;
•Preparing, formatting, and editing documents;
•Working autonomously and managing highly confidential information; and
•Undertaking legal research, finding cases, preparing memos, providing case summaries, and reviewing documents.

Experience
Experience is not essential and a successful applicant will demonstrate the following attributes:
•Excellent attention to detail and is hard working;
•Ability to appropriately work with confidential and sensitive information;
•Possess precise verbal and written communication skills;
•Be proficient with MS Office, including document formatting, documents preparation, and reviewing draft documents;
•Be resourceful and proactive, a fast learner, and able multi-task and manage competing deadlines;
•Be an independent worker who delivers quality outcomes and accurately and efficiently completes tasks; and
•Have a polite and professional manner.
