Moores is a values-driven law firm that is committed to making a difference for our clients, our people and the communities in which we operate. We pride ourselves on delivering quality work and excellent client service.

We are looking for around four fabulous graduates who want to commence their career in March 2025 as part of our values driven, friendly and collaborative team.

You will be mentored by accredited specialists and award winning Practice Leaders, who are keen to invest in your growth and development.

About the role

The Moores Graduate Program is 12 months in length, fixed term program, comprising three rotations in compulsory areas, including; Property & Construction, Disputes, Wills and Estates, Workplace Relations and Corporate Advisory.  During each rotation you will have regular meetings with your supervisor and the support of an assigned ‘buddy,’ usually a junior lawyer, assisting in your transition.

The structured full-time graduate program is designed to provide you with feedback, training and coaching in the core disciplines during each rotation. Due to our values driven and collaborative culture, you will have an opportunity to undertake meaningful work with clients, under the supported supervision of Practice Leaders and team members.

In addition to Supervised Legal Training (SLT), Moores will fund the required Practical Legal Training (PLT) component. This will be facilitated by an approved PLT provider such as Leo Cussen, designed to support your on the job training and build your legal and commercial knowledge.

The Moores Graduate Program provides you with an opportunity to maximise your skills and potential to become a well rounded future lawyer.

About you

You will have just finished your law degree this year, or about to commence your final semester in 2024

We are looking for applicants who want to work in NewLaw. Lawyers who are keen to be nurtured, with plenty of room to demonstrate their emotional (EQ), adaptability (AQ) and technical capabilities (TQ), which include;

Human Skills (EQ)

  • Excellent communication skills, building rapport and trust with clients and colleagues
  • The ability to work autonomously and in a team, to get stuff done

Adaptability (AQ)

  • Thirsty for knowledge, with a curious and innovative mindset
  • Love learning new things, and thrive in dynamic environments
  • Resilient, with the ability to roll up your sleeves and lean into change

Technical Intelligence (TQ)

  • Great problem-solving, research and drafting skills
  • Ability to manage a busy workload
  • Commitment to providing excellent client service and does not settle for average

About us

Moores is not a traditional law firm. We are unique because:

  • Our staff love working here – Moores was named the ‘Employer of Choice’ at the Australian Law Awards 2023
  • We actually innovate – we were one of the the first law firms to ditch time sheets in favour of value pricing and we’re not looking back! We price value, not time.
  • We are truly flexible – majority of our staff and practice leaders work flexibly or part time in a hybrid work environment.
  • We are proudly inclusive, diverse and committed to gender equality –our CEO and more than 50 percent of our practice leaders are female.
  • We pride ourselves on being professional, but we don’t wear suits unless we have to.
  • We value work-life balance, so we focus on working smarter.
  • We focus on working with purpose-aligned clients to deliver great outcomes that benefit the community.
  • We keep it real - we’re a down to earth bunch who listen and are open with each other. We don’t take ourselves too seriously.
  • We do it with heart - people are the heart of Moores. We like and care about each other

But don’t just take our word for it, hear from our current graduates who were recently admitted;

Tim – ‘rotating across practice areas allowed me to explore different career options and build valuable relationships across the firm’

Cheryl – ‘my traineeship experience at Moores was incredibly rewarding. I felt supported at every step and had real opportunities to do impactful work!

Samantha – ‘everyone across the firm was invested in my growth and development, which was invaluable for my graduate year’.
