Job Description:

The Graduate / Junior Secondary Engineer will play a pivotal role in power system design, involving the following responsibilities:

  • Secondary Design Drafting: Execute secondary design drafting tasks.
  • Detailed Designs: Collaborate with Secondary Engineers to prepare detailed designs for Integrated Control and Protection (ICAP) applications in zone and transmission substations.
  • Commissioning Support: Assist Secondary and Commissioning Engineers during commissioning of new installations.
  • Maintenance and Fault Finding: Support maintenance and fault-finding activities on installations.
  • System Studies: Aid in carrying out system studies and power system analysis using relevant software tools.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Timely execution and preparation (AutoCAD) of designs for existing projects.
  • Assist with project execution and management.
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing of designed ICAP systems.
  • Support on-site commissioning of protection, control systems, and primary electrical plant.
  • Adhere to Company Quality Management System requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project design documentation and drawings.
  • Update the design office technical library.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary education in electrical engineering (degree or national Diploma).
  • Knowledge of modern protection relay technology, substation automation, and commissioning.
  • Understanding of primary electrical plant design in substations.
  • Familiarity with substation control systems up to SCADA.
  • Knowledge of civil and mechanical engineering aspects in substations and overhead power lines.
  • Experience in commissioning protective relay and control systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Monitor work environment for hazards and actively participate in WHS programs.
  • Comply with Safe Working Procedures and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Identify, report, and record hazards.
  • Participate in workplace safety audits.

Other Duties:

  • Perform any reasonable duties allocated by Management.
