QBE GRADUATE PROGRAM 2024

SYDNEY | HYBRID WORKING

18 months | 3 different teams | 6-month experiences

Our award-winning graduate program has been running for many years with huge success.  Graduates are hired as permanent employees, with the first 18-months spent on the graduate program experiencing three different teams across our business, known as ‘rotations’. In addition to three rotations, graduates progress through a structured learning and development plan, have access to senior leaders, and spend time with their graduate cohort forming meaningful and long-lasting connections.

Our graduate program streams include:

  • Finance*
  • Actuarial*
  • Insurance underwriting
  • Technology
  • Risk & Compliance
  • Transformation

*Recruitment has already been completed for finance and actuarial graduates.

RISK & COMPLIANCE

Our vision is to be the most consistent and innovative risk partner.  To achieve this vision, we must have highly sophisticated risk and compliance practices ourselves.

Our risk graduate program stream offers you the full spectrum of risk and compliance, from a front-line operational perspective where different business areas will present their own unique risks, to an entire organisation perspective in our global policies, frameworks, and more.

You will become skilled in analysis, stakeholder management, and build knowledge of regulatory bodies across many jurisdictions.

Because managing risk is so crucial to the success of a business, the skills and knowledge you build in this program stream will likely act as a foundation and support for the rest of your career.

TECHNOLOGY

Our Technology stream has been designed for aspiring developers with many different developer angles to explore. As a global company we span a large technology landscape which means there are vast opportunities on offer for our graduates. These experiences could include digital developer, application developer, integration developer, and data developer. Additionally, we have numerous other avenues to explore within technology which include tech architecture, project management as well as risk management. As we are in an exciting time of modernising our business, there is no better moment to join us in our journey to become a future fit and modern insurer.

TRANSFORMATION

Our Australia and Pacific Island division (AUSPAC) is currently on a 5-year modernisation journey so our Transformation graduate program is an exciting place to start your career building technical and soft skills within business analysis, project and/or change management.

This graduate program stream provides a high level of exposure across multiple business areas and stakeholders, all with a unique perspective on business, offering the perfect environment for you to become a well-rounded professional.

Transformation graduate rotations are flexible within our AUSPAC division and wider business, including our Group Head Office teams. Some of these opportunities involve working with our international colleagues in North America, Asia and Europe further expanding your skills and experience.

INSURANCE UNDERWRITING

Insurance underwriting is a highly technical skill set that is critical to our business.  This graduate program stream focuses on business insurance, which can be incredibly complex.  Businesses of all sizes across many industries present their own unique risks and you will learn what to consider before we agree to offer insurance protection to a business customer.

Underwriting is unique in that it offers the best of both worlds – a role where you can build strong technical skills through analysis and underwriting practices, and advanced communications skills as your success in this role will rely on effectively working with many different stakeholders.

As an insurance underwriting graduate, you’ll work in three different underwriting teams, experiencing different lines of insurance and different types of customers across many industries.

GRADUATE LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

  • Your skill and career development are a key focus for the entire graduate program and beyond.  Some of the ways you will learn include:
  • Experiencing our business from three different perspectives across your graduate rotations.
  • Formal classroom-style training, always with a practical application.
  • Informal learning through cohort activities and initiatives.
  • Digital learning pathways designed for the graduate cohort and your program stream more specifically.
  • Unlimited access to digital learning content, many courses with official certifications.
  • Your support network: graduate program lead, graduate buddy, rotation leaders, technical buddies, graduate networks (program stream and wider cohort).
  • Networking and public speaking opportunities.

ELIGIBILITY

  • To be eligible for our 2024 graduate program, you must have:
  • Completed tertiary education in the last 2 years, graduating from end of 2021 to end of 2023; and
  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia until at least February 2027.
  • Submit a resume and academic transcript with your application.
  • Not all program streams require a technical field of study, so we encourage you to apply for your preferred stream or contact the graduate recruitment team to discuss further at our website.
