About the Opportunity

Qenos now has a fantastic opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our team in Botany, NSW. 

Working within the Olefines, your primary responsibility will be to design improvements, manage projects, coordinate workgroup project management, troubleshoot plant problems and implement improvements to Olefines operations (including storages), both equipment and systems of the Olefines plant.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Support the Operations Teams in identifying and resolving production or safety issues;
  • Optimise plant equipment to maximise productivity / minimise operating expense
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities;
  • Design and Implement Plant Improvements;
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage larger activities that occur in the Services Area of the Plant
  • Lead incident investigations in the Services Area of the Plant
  • Be a valued member of the Olefines Plant wider Technical Team
  • Participate in Plant Safety Studies - Safety Case Reviews / HAZOPs / CHAZOPs / Audits

Please Note: This is a full-time role, ideally working 5 days per week, but with considerable flexibility around start and finish times within these parameters. As the plant operates 24/7 there will be occasional instances of being called upon outside of normal working hours.

About You

To be considered for this position you will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering and/or equivalent experience, with some exposure to continuous professional development in the areas of Plant Process technological improvements, new standards/techniques and vendor specific training. Any previous experience within the petrochemical field or an oil & gas industry will be held in high regard. We would consider taking on a recent Graduate with the right skillset. 

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will ideally possess the following:

  • Experience/skills in related software (Process simulation, Data analytics, etc);
  • Experience/skills in relevant work practices (e.g. CHAZOPs, Management of Change);
  • A can-do attitude, combining autonomy and independence with the character to challenge the status quo to drive effective results;
  • Strong time management, prioritisation and organisational skills, including a keen sense of attention to detail while managing multiple competing demands without errors;
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders of all levels (from plant operators and maintenance to senior management);
  • An ingrained sense of ownership and accountability with the courage to own the results of your actions; and
  • A drive for excellence that extends to empowering others to achieve results and learn from both positive and negative outcomes
