About the Opportunity

Qenos now has a sought after opportunity for a Process Contact Engineer to join our team in Altona, VIC. 

Working with a range of Technician and other Engineers, your primary responsibility will be to provide technical engineering support to ensure the optimal performance of plant operations within the Olefins manufacturing site. 

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Support the Operations Teams in identifying and resolving production or safety issues
  • Optimise plant equipment to maximise productivity and minimise operating expense
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and support the implementation of appropriate improvements
  • Identify, troubleshoot and rectify plant based issues effectively and efficiently
  • Be a valued member of the Olefins Plant wider Technical Team
  • Supporting Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) programs, reports, data management, and implementation of continuous improvement processes.

Please Note: This is a full-time role . As the plant operates 24/7 there will be occasional instances of being called upon outside of normal working hours.

About You

To be considered for this position you will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering. Ideal relevant experience is preferred and includes exposure to continuous professional development in the areas of Plant Process technological improvements, new standards/techniques and vendor specific training. Any previous experience within the petrochemical field or an oil & gas industry will be held in high regard. We would consider taking on a recent Graduate with the right skillset. 

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will ideally possess the following:

  • Experience/skills in related software (Process simulation, Data analytics, etc)
  • Experience/skills in relevant work practices (e.g. CHAZOPs, Management of Continuous Improvement Projects)
  • Familiarity and experience with Boilers and Steam Generation
  • A can-do attitude, combining autonomy and independence with the character to positively influence others to drive effective results
  • Strong time management, prioritisation and organisational skills, including a keen sense of attention to detail while managing multiple competing demands with a high degree of accuracy
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders of all levels 
  • An ingrained sense of ownership and accountability with the courage to own the results of your actions
  • A drive for excellence that extends to empowering others to achieve results and learn from both positive and negative outcomes
