Culture at Queensland Audit Office

9.3
9.3 rating for Culture, based on 21 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
Everything about the culture has been satisfactory so far, although so far I have only really had an opportunity to meet those who I work with.

Positions are very well structured, but everyone in the office still feels approachable. Teamwork within the office is encouraged and everyone supports each other well. A structured Grad program has let our cohort bond well. The QAO Social club also frequently puts on events for people to socialise beyond unofficial gatherings

It's very inclusive. In the office, employees are given enough time to finish their work. Managers provide support and approachable. Colleagues are willing to help each other to get work done. The social club organises events after work regularly.

My immediate coworkers are very friendly and open to helping out when needed, even during busy periods. My managers are very direct, transparent about what's required (and what isn't), and have their ear to the ground. I feel like I can work productively with anyone in my team. The social club has great events and at a frequency that isn't overwhelming - it's great to meet new people and people you don't talk to as often at these outings. I don't feel like I have to attend every event, but it's nice to go when I can. Overall, I'm very happy with the social environment at QAO - inside AND outside of the workplace.

The culture at QAO is incredible, all staff at any level are friendly and will offer you assistance if you require it. Cooperation and teamwork are big focuses at QAO and completing audits within your teams allow you to receive the coaching and mentoring from seniors to set you up for success. Socialisation is a big part of the office culture with the social club running numerous events through the year. The graduate program helps create a tight bond between your fellow grads.

Great culture, awesome social club with lots of team building activities and opportunities to connect with co-workers during and outside of work hours.

I think the organisation aspires to have an excellent workplace culture and that at least should be commendable. There are many out-of-hours social events that are organised for staff to mingle and get to know each other. Most staff, including most of the leadership team, are friendly and welcoming.

A lot of movement to grow from graduate level to auditor, senior auditor, assistant manager, manager, senior manager... maybe one day an Auditor General! The social aspect is great with a social club, regular different social activities that you can choose to be a part of and then there are all staff days every quarter, community outings and grad forums and activities. So, PLENTY to get yourself involved into.

Office culture is positive and welcoming. Within the office there is an air of friendly professionalism. It is a flexible workplace and people are respecting of each others circumstances. I have made plenty of friends within the organisation and social events after hours are common and fun. The graduate program works well to get you in contact with plenty of people in the same position as you.

Our EMG and directors/senior managers make an effort to keep us informed of the business decision making processes that occur throughout the business. It is a very interactive and friendly workspace where the EMG sits amongst us. We have social club events that allow us to interact with our colleagues from different areas of the business such as Finance, Audit Support, IT etc. Majority of the office goes to these work events and it's always a fun time.

QAO is such a supportive community. There is a hierarchy but anyone in the organisation is approachable and up for a chat. Heaps of opportunities throughout the year to network and socialise at formal and informal events.

The Queensland Audit Office has an inclusive culture. It embraces flexible work arrangements which means you can choose when and where you work. The executive management group is made up of the Auditor-General and Assistant Auditors-Generals. There is a hierarchy, but it is quite subtle. We have an open plan office and we all work as a team regardless of job title and level. We socialise often, and events are organised by the social club and are fully supported by management.

Everyone is incredibly friendly and supportive. We are encouraged to go out and grab coffee and lunch with people from the office. In my first week of working here they had a social event to celebrate our first week of work.

There is a very friendly culture both during and after office hours. People are very approachable and easy to chat to. Each client has a team working on it, and you are rotated between clients, so you get to know a variety of people. You are assigned a buddy to help with day-to-day questions, an audit manager to help with audit-specific questions, and a staff manager to help with your development.

Everyone in the team (managers and directors included) will continuously ask if you require assistance and actively make sure the graduates don't feel overwhelmed. Positions are not hierarchical, meaning it is easy for an auditor to socialise with a director of IT (for example).

The company's culture is very collaborative. If you're stuck on something you can go up to any of the managers and they will be willing to assist you (provided that they don't have a meeting to go to). After hours, the company seems like a large group of friends, asking about your personal life and making jokes together, this is between all employees including between managers and regular workers. There is a hierarchy, but it is only noticeable for points of contact on issues coming up with the work. The managers and senior managers don't have separate offices, nor act like they are better than everyone else.

The performance audit team is small and close knit. I am friendly with the entire team as we all come from different backgrounds, with different areas of expertise. Outside of work there are frequent social events, both official and impromptu. I enjoy socialising with my colleagues.
