Your role

Selina Magnetic Island is offering an enriching internship opportunity for those passionate about wildlife, conservation, and koalas in particular. The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in koala care, habitat maintenance, and visitor education, ensuring the well-being of our treasured koalas and fostering public awareness about them.

As an Operations Rockstar you will:

• Assist in daily health checks, dietary preparation, and feeding routines, and monitor the general well-being of koalas.
• Aid in cleaning, maintaining, and ensuring the safety of koalas and animal enclosures. Participate in planting native vegetation beneficial for koalas.
• Engage with global visitors, and provide information about koalas, their habitats, and conservation efforts. Lead or assist in educational sessions and tours.
• Support ongoing park research and conservation initiatives, including data collection and habitat restoration projects.
• Support daily park operations, including guest services, retail operations, and organizing of special events or promotions.

About you

Here are what it takes to be an Operations Rockstar:

• Currently enrolled in a degree in Zoology, Biology, Environmental Science, Wildlife Management, or a related field.
• Passionate about wildlife conservation and koalas.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• A basic understanding of animal behaviour is a plus.
• Able to provide a university agreement confirming the internship period
• Ready to learn and have fun but more importantly to immerse into a brand-new definition of Hospitality.
