Job Description

With offices throughout the Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, and Africa regions, SLR Consulting is one of a very small number of leading international specialist environmental consultancies.

We have an excellent career opportunity within our Hydrology & Hydrogeology team for a full-time Hydrogeologist to join our NSW team (we are also considering part-time and casual employment options). You will have flexibility across a range of projects and we would consider people from an environmental science background with an interest in hydrogeology, water quality, or land contamination. This role will be based in Wollongong and you will work closely with our senior team to ensure the delivery of quality environmental services to our internal and external clients.

We have an awesome team culture where we encourage collaboration and promote growth within your career. We have fun inside and outside the office and provide a trusting and respectful place to work. We are looking for someone who loves Wollongong, science, and the outdoors!

Job tasks and responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

•    Undertake routine integrated monitoring programs which include groundwater, surface water, soils, and air quality sampling while following SLR procedures and industry best practice
•    Perform field studies that may include hydrogeological site investigations, drilling programs, monitoring bore installations, and hydraulic testing
•    Prepare quality factual reports based on field and laboratory data collected for, or provided by clients
•    Interpret multi-disciplinary scientific data to develop sound conceptual hydrogeological models
•    Preparing quality reports for internal and external clients, on time and within set budgets
•    Undertake tasks to produce high-quality Environmental Management documentation (i.e. technical studies and environmental approvals)
•    Develop, facilitate and enhance relationships between our internal and external clients and SLR team members
•    Contribute to winning work through good delivery and service and by identifying client needs and opportunities, sharing these with the broader team
•    Administrative and financial management tasks including budget preparation and monitoring, accurate and timely responses to requests as required by project demands and timelines

Skills and experience

To do this effectively you’ll have:

•    Either completed a short course in hydrogeology or University qualifications (Bachelor's Degree or higher) in Science or Engineering, specializing in Hydrogeology or a related field (remuneration packages will vary based on qualifications)
•    Some practical experience in the field of hydrogeology with demonstrated skills in the areas of data analysis, report writing, groundwater bore drilling, and construction, and groundwater monitoring and sampling would be advantageous
•    Experience in groundwater fieldwork is desirable
•    In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in groundwater data analysis and interpretation would be advantageous
•    Excellent communication and reporting skills
•    Willingness to travel domestically and remotely to undertake monitoring projects – often up to a week at a time
•    Manual driver’s license
•    Previous 4WD experience and training are highly desirable
•    Australian citizenship/working rights are essential
