Your role

This body of work entails public outreach and campaigns, news monitoring and media relations, social media engagement, and building brand awareness. You will be expected to work strategically in support of UNHCR’s operational and communications objectives for the geographic area of responsibility (AoR). UNHCR’s Regional Representation is based in Canberra and its mandate covers Australia, and New Zealand as well as 14 Pacific Islands Countries and Territories (PICTs) including Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

Training & development

UNHCR Australia provides interns with a learning opportunity to gain knowledge and practical experience related to their academic programme or future work in a field related to UNHCR’s mission. Internship opportunities are periodically offered at the UNHCR Regional Representation in Canberra.

Benefits

UNHCR Australia interns may be eligible to receive financial support from an outside party, usually a university, and are strongly encouraged to explore their sponsorship options. A Food and Local Transportation Allowance at 50% of the monthly salary of General Service level 3 step 1 is provided monthly to non-sponsored interns only.

About you
